PLYMOUTH MA
Portable Bandstand
Built - c. 1980

Evidently the historical town of Plymouth chose not to build a bandstand near the harbor since it would attract away from the world-famous Plymouth Rock Memorial so the town opted for a portable bandstand. The large stage, when fully extended, can support a full orchestra for their famous 4th of July concerts held down the street from the memorial and for other community events and is easily constructed and disassembled for movement and storage. The one Plymouth has was built in the 1980s and has been used countless times for all types of events within the town limits. The proper title for such a bandstand is a "Showmobile."
